[For Sycom Co., Ltd.] Prefabricated Anechoic Chamber S-Type for BTO PC Acoustic Evaluation

MFAC

We delivered a space-saving prefabricated anechoic chamber, S-Type, to BTO PC manufacturer Sycom Co., Ltd.

This facility is a full anechoic chamber designed to evaluate operating noise, fan noise, and abnormal sounds generated by PCs and related equipment in an environment that suppresses the effects of ambient noise and indoor reflections.

Despite its compact design tailored for limited installation space, AS Anechoic Wedges T-250 are arranged on the entire surfaces of the walls, ceiling, and floor. This creates a measurement environment suitable for evaluating product quietness and sound quality.

It features a compact configuration of approximately 2m square, enabling installation even within limited spaces in existing buildings.

Wall and Ceiling Structure

Exterior

  • Steel sound insulation panels
  • Wall surface: ZAM mill finish

Interior

  • AS Anechoic Wedges T-250
  • Sound-absorbing material protective finish

External noise intrusion is suppressed by the steel sound insulation panels, while internal reflections of sound generated by the measurement object are reduced by the AS Anechoic Wedges on the interior side.

By making it easier to capture direct sound emitted from measurement targets, it supports the evaluation of noise generated by PC cooling fans, CPU coolers, graphics cards, power supply units, and more.

Soundproof Door Acoustic Treatment

Anechoic wedges are placed on the inside of the soundproof door as well, similar to the interior wall surfaces.

Since door areas easily become reflective surfaces for internal sound, the structure is designed to suppress interior reflected sound while ensuring proper layout of openings and door operability.

Floor Structure

The floor surface is composed of the following structure from bottom to top:

  • Steel sound insulation panels
  • AS Anechoic Wedges T-250
  • Tarpscreen
  • Grating (hot-dip galvanized finish)
  • Vibration-proof rubber t20

By providing a walkable grating above the anechoic wedges, floor reflections are suppressed while allowing operators to enter and set up measurement targets.

Since anechoic wedges are arranged not only on the walls and ceiling but also on the floor surface, it forms a full 6-sided sound-absorbing anechoic chamber structure.

Main Ancillary Equipment

  • LED lighting (1,520 lm equivalent) × 4 units
  • Microphone suspension hooks × 3 units
  • 100V power outlets 2PE × 2 locations
  • Utility pipes □70 × 2 locations
  • Sound insulation covers for utility pipes
  • Air supply silencer × 1 unit
  • Exhaust silencer × 1 unit
  • Exhaust fan × 1 unit
  • “IN USE” indicator light × 1 unit
  • Switches for lighting and exhaust fan
  • Distribution board
  • Entrance step
  • Mounting base and signal line for automatic fire alarm system
  • Vibration-proof rubber t20

Utility pipes equipped with sound insulation covers are installed in two locations to allow power and signal cables to be connected to measurement equipment and test targets.

Additionally, silencers are installed on both the air supply and exhaust sides to allow for ventilation during measurements. The structure suppresses noise entering or radiating through the ventilation paths.

Guaranteed Sound Insulation Values

Guaranteed sound insulation values based on JIS A 1417:2000 are set as follows.

Frequency125 Hz250 Hz500 Hz1 kHz2 kHz4 kHz8 kHz
Sound Insulation Level35 dB41 dB45 dB51 dB55 dB57 dB56 dB

By securing the sound insulation performance required for measurement across low to high frequencies, an acoustic measurement environment resistant to external noise is realized.
