Futaba Industrial Co., Ltd. Kota Plant Semi-Anechoic Room Renovation Work

We performed a renovation of a semi-anechoic room intended for vehicle and product acoustic evaluation at Futaba Industrial Co., Ltd. Kota Plant. By combining large openings, floor pits, acoustic wedges, and steel sound insulation panels, we have created a measurement environment that balances vehicle accessibility with high sound insulation performance.

Sonora Technology Co., Ltd. has completed renovation work for a semi-anechoic room designed for acoustic evaluation of vehicles and products at Futaba Industrial Co., Ltd.’s Kota Plant.
In this project, while utilizing the existing facility, we aimed to balance measurement environment usability and sound insulation performance by combining large openings for vehicle entry, floor pits, acoustic wedges, steel sound insulation panels, and air conditioning silencers.
In the sound insulation performance confirmation after construction, a measured level difference of 74.0dB was confirmed at 500Hz, and favorable results were also confirmed for internal background noise at NC-20 or less.

Key Points of This Project
Large Openings for Vehicle Entry
Large openings, soundproof doors, and electric shutters were planned to accommodate vehicle access. Since there is a pit opening immediately inside the door, a single outward-opening acoustic/insulation integrated door was installed to ensure that the door swing does not overlap with the pit, securing accessibility, workability, sound insulation, and acoustic characteristics.
Acoustic and Sound Insulation Structure Suited for Measurement Needs
BFW-600 acoustic wedges are placed on the wall and ceiling interiors, and Solameta sound insulation panels are used for the outer sound insulation layer to establish a semi-free sound field and suppress the influence of external noise.
Vehicle Evaluation Environment Utilizing Floor Pits
Floor pits, pit covers, electric opening floor panels, stairs, and safety railings are combined to ensure workability and safety during vehicle evaluation.
Acoustic Measures for Air Conditioning and Exhaust
AC intake and supply silencers were installed to balance indoor temperature control with quietness.
Sound Insulation Performance Measurement Results (Shutters Closed)
As a result of checking the sound insulation performance after construction, an external sound of 91.6dB, an internal sound of 17.6dB, and a level difference of 74.0dB were confirmed at 500Hz.
