How quiet is inside an anechoic box?

08/06/2024

An anechoic box is an acoustic measurement box with a high sound insulation box.

It is mainly used to measure the acoustics of driving parts with low acoustic noise.

The environment in which to measure sound should be at least 10 dB lower than the sound pressure level of the object to be DUT.

(Example) To measure a sound pressure of 30 dB, it is less than 20 dB, which is -10 dB.

In other words, a quieter environment is required to measure small sounds.

Below is the actual background noise data (A characteristic) of the anechoic box.

dB

Background noise inside the box3.5-17.6-17.3-14.9-9.8-5.8-3.7-3.7-4.1

In this data, the background noise inside the box is 3.5 dB (A), so the measurement target is 13.5 dB or more, which is +10 dB.

In order to ensure low background noise inside the anechoic box, a better evaluation than the anechoic box installation environment is required.

We can make proposals tailored to the user’s measurement needs.
