Compact Acoustic Evaluation System for Material Development

In product development, acoustic materials must be evaluated not only by their appearance or structure, but also by their actual acoustic performance.

AbLoss enables users to evaluate both sound absorption performance and sound insulation performance in-house.

By integrating the acoustic rooms, measurement equipment, software, and technical support into one system, AbLoss provides an efficient solution for laboratories, R&D departments, and quality evaluation facilities.

System Configuration

AbLoss consists of the following main components.

Compact Reverberation Room

Compact reverberation room

The compact reverberation room forms a diffuse sound field and is used for sound absorption measurement and sound transmission loss measurement.

It provides the acoustic environment required to evaluate how materials behave under reverberant sound field conditions.

Compact Semi-Anechoic Room

Compact semi-anechoic room

The compact semi-anechoic room is used as the receiving room for transmitted sound evaluation.

Its sound absorbing interior reduces reflections and supports stable measurement of transmitted sound energy.

Acoustic Measurement System

The acoustic measurement system includes the equipment required for measurement and analysis.

Main components include:

  • Microphones
  • Acoustic intensity measurement equipment
  • Loudspeakers
  • Acoustic analysis software
  • Measurement PC
  • Microphone traverse system

Measurement Capabilities

AbLoss supports two major types of acoustic material evaluation.

Sound Absorption Evaluation

Sound Transmission Loss Evaluation

Sound transmission loss evaluation measures how much sound passes through a material, panel, or structure.

This evaluation is useful for developing and comparing materials that reduce transmitted noise.

Typical target materials include:

  • Sound insulating materials
  • Soundproof panels
  • Automotive parts
  • Building materials
  • Composite panels
  • Partition materials
  • Lightweight acoustic structures
